Pretty cool so far. A couple hundred scouts stuffed in here so it’s plenty busy. Lots of cool stuff to see. I visited this boat when i was my sons age but just did the standard tour and it stuck with me forever I can only imagine how sleeping here for a few nights will be remembered by him. Please excuse any grammar issues here mobile   kinja is being extra salty today and I’m only allowed to see half the screen at a time when I’m posting but then when I view everyone else’s posts its full screen and looks normal.

Super neat! We stayed on the U.S.S. Kidd a couple of times. The first time was in the winter. The heat was on and I got stuck with a top bunk. It was miserably hot. The second time I took door duty so I could be on a bottom bunk. Much better.

Grumman WWII aircraft for the win! I’m going to have to add the USS Yorktown to my bucket list, thanks for the post!

Nice! Also, check out the USS C lamagore docked nearby before she eventually becomes a reef!

Enjoy it. We did it a couple of years ago and my son loved it. I did too even though I had the sticky top bunk. Explore all over and be sure to go as deep into the ship as you can.

My grandfather flew off of the Yorktown during the war as an Avenger gunner.  It was cool for us to spend time on his ship.

That’s so cool! I’ve wondered what it’s like to be on a ship that size. Does it still feel like being on a boat like it’s wobbling and stuff or is it super stable?

This one is actually ran into a sand bar and “sunk” + its in an area that gets no waves so zero movement. Once your up and into 3 or 4 hallways/staircases to get to the sleeping quarters it’s hard to remember yo ur on a ship. The sleeping arrangement is crazy bunks 4 or 5 tall once your nestled in this is your view the next bunk up is like 8 inches above you.

That is just great. Making some great memories for you and your son. You know he’s never going to forget this, right?

I’m sure he will. I did the standard tour at his exact age 26 years ago and I still have fond memories of it so I’m guessing it will stick with him. I know I’ll always remember this.
